Today I’m reviewing a lovely aubergine khol pencil from Rouge Bunny Rouge which I’ve been wearing quite often in the past few days. I’m not a big fan of black khols for everyday wear unless I’m wearing a smokey eye but I love soft plums, browns and greens especially on the lower lash line.

What the brand says about the product :
Every night, the Enchanted Garden artists get to work with magic pencils so that the Garden can transform itself with different colours and moods. Metamorphose yourself just as easily into whomever you want to be today, with FELINE GAZE eye pencils. A darkly elegant seductive feline? A mystical flower-of-the-hour doe-eyed beauty? A deliciously sinful sultry almond-eyed goddess? Be pure temptation itself, as you purringly write your own manifesto with this eye pencil that adorns you. So soft that it almost melts on application, but will stay put day or night, inviting closer inspection… dancing in the memory of those who met you long after you’ve left the room and inviting all manner of thoughts. This formula embraces spherical polymers and waxes, giving maximum comfort with outstanding staying power. The colour release, with its beautiful creaminess and glide, is much higher compared to traditional pencils. Use for precision contouring along the lash line, soft blending by smudging with fingertips or brush, or for building smoky smouldering effects.
How to use :
The soft formula of the Eye Khol is perfect for a smoky look: smudge the pencil line with your fingertip or with the RBR Sponge Applicator (# 015). Use a lighter version of the Eye Khol (´Lola´ or ´Delilah´) to get a softer day-version of smoky eyes. For a perfect line, slightly stretch the eyelid by lifting the outside edge of the brow with your forefinger and place your middle finger or thumb on the outer edge of your cheekbone with a slight downwards pull. Apply the ´Salome´ (black) or ´Lola´ (brown) khol to the inner upper eyelid to really enhance the lash line.

My take on the Product
The Rouge Bunny Rouge kohl comes n a wooden pencil form that sharpens without any difficulty. The base is colored, sowhen stored upside down, one can easily locate the desired shade. The texture of the kohl is smooth but not as soft and creamy as some of the other kohls I’ve used. While this may not give intense dark color, it does have a soft ethereal quality which would appeal to those who like their makeup subtle and natural looking. As described by the brand, this is perfect for creating a smokey lash which a wearable during the day as the color is not too strong. I like how it adds some shadow especially when used along the lower lash line which is my favorite way to use it. The staying power is good but not great – it wears for about 3-4 hours on my waterline but on the lower lash line, it stays almost the entire day (7-8 hours). It does not bleed into the under eye region which is superb because that is one of my biggest concerns while wearing any kohl on the lower lash.
It is absolute safe for lens wearers, I’ve worn this for the entire day and experienced no discomfort.
Overall, its the kind of product that would either be a hit or miss depending on your makeup preferences and complexion – women with paler complexions/eye color or those who like subtle makeup will love it while those with darker complexions might find that it doesn’t show up well on dusky skin. I personally like the shade and texture for my subtle makeup days when I want a little something on the eyes that doesn’t look to harsh or strong and Delilah fits the bill perfectly! I’m a big fan of plum liners as I think they go well with my complexion and my aqua colored lenses. Would highly recommend this to women with green or hazel eyes!
It is by no means an inexpensive product but if you prefer softer shades, you will not be disappointed with Delilah!
Delilah is described as a semi-matte aubergine with a plum lustre and the description is spot-on! Its a dirty plum shade with a soft sheen and would look stunning on green/hazel eyes. Even though I’m fairly neutral in tone, I find plums suit me and this one is just a beautiful soft shade. Because of the soft finish and pigmentation, its very easy to work with and makeup novices can easily play with this gorgeous color without worrying about going overboard!
This is how I like wearing it – Delilah applied thickly on upper lash line, waterline and lower lash line, black liner on upper lash and mascara. I love the end result!
The GOOD about Rouge Bunny Rouge Feline Gaze Eye Khol :
- Soft texture
- Applies without tugging
- Soft color, suitable for day wear
- Good staying power
- Safe for lens wearers
- Beautiful shades
- Does not bleed/smudge into the under eye area
The NOT-SO-GOOD about Rouge Bunny Rouge Feline Gaze Eye Khol :
- Not long wearing on waterline
- Texture could be creamier
Rouge Bunny Rouge Feline Gaze Eye Khol comes in a convenient to use, easy to sharpen wooden pencil packaging. The texture is smooth but it could be a little softer. It has a soft finish without the harshness of traditional kohls that makes it perfect for subtle looks. The wear time is decent and I love that fact that it doesn’t smear/bleed. Delilah is a lovely aubergine shade that would look stunning on green/hazel eyes.
