L’Oreal Paris Infallible Look/Tutorial 2 : Lunch Date/Dressy Day Makeup

Hey everyone!

For Day 2 of the L’Oreal Paris Infallible Series, I’m doing a slightly dressier look than the Everyday/Office wear look. I call this the Lunch Date/Dressy Day look – suitable for almost any day event be it formal or casual. While the lips and cheeks are natural and understated with warm neutrals, I’ve added a little bit of dazzle to the eyes in the form of a muted green.

Hope you like the look! Don’t forget to leave your comments at the end of the post!

Whenever wearing a colorful shade on the lids, I smudge a kohl pencil on the upper lash line and that adds volume and density to the base of the lashes even though the black of the kohl is covered up by eye shadow and is not visible by itself. The first 4 steps of this tutorial are just to lay down a base for the green eye shadow to look a little more ‘natural‘.

Step 1 : Apply black kohl on the upper lash line as close to the lashes as possible.

Step 2 : Using a smudging brush or a Q-tip, smudge the upper edge (the one away from the lash line) as shown.

Step 3 : Apply Endless Chocolate (shimmery bronzed brown eye shadow) along the lash line covering about half of the lid.

Step 4 : Blend the edges of the eye shadow applied in the previous step using a fluffy blending brush.

Step 5 : Apply the muted green eye shadow Permanent Khaki on the remaining upper half of the lid till the socket line.

Step 6 and 7 : Blend the brown and green and soften the edges of the green in the crease.

Step 8 : Apply a very small amount of Endless Chocolate (Review HERE) on the lower lash line starting from the outer corner. Only apply 1/3rd of the way as shown to keep it looking soft and wearable for the day.

Step 9 : Using L’Oreal Paris Luminizer in Black Diamond (Review HERE) draw a thin line on the upper lash line thickening it as you move outward. Since this liner is a little sheer, you may need to do 2-3 layers, concentrate the 2nd and 3rd layer to the outer half of the eyes to get the darkest color there.

Step 10 : Add just a touch of Hourglass Beige eye shadow (Swatch HERE) to the inner corner to brighten up the eyes. Finish off with a coat of L’Oreal Paris Million Lashes Mascara (Review HERE).

Apply some compact/loose face powder under the brows to give a neat, finished look. Fill in your brows once the foundation is done.

For the FACE :

  1. L’Oreal Paris Infallible Foundation
  2. L’Oreal Paris Infallible concealer
  3. Clinique Blended face powder
  4. Revlon Colorstay Mineral Finishing Powder : Sunkiss Radieux
  5. L’Oreal Paris True Match Blush : True Rose

Now I do not own a powder and bronzer from L’Oreal so I’ve used whichever I own. For the face :

  1. Start by applying a thin layer of foundation concentrating on the areas that really need foundation. I have used my fingers with this foundation to get a thin layer. Read my review of the Infallible Foundation HERE. I like this foundation because the coverage is medium but can be built up if desired and it gives a nice fresh glow to the skin.
  2. Dust some loose powder on the T-zone and inner cheeks to keep the oil at bay. Oily skinned women should apply it on the entire face.
  3. Using the Revlon Bronzer, I have very added some definition to the cheek bone and jawline but its very subtle as I wanted the overall look to be soft. Be careful with the contour powder/bronzer, just use a tiny amount of product to add contour/definition.
  4. Add some fresh color to the cheeks with L’Oreal Paris True Match Blush in True Rose (click for review). This is a sheer blush so one needn’t worry about going overboard in one swipe of the brush. Start by applying the blush on the apples of the cheeks and blend it towards the temples. After applying the blush, I’ve added some more bronzer directly to the apples of the cheeks this time to warm up the cheeks to match with the lipstick.

For the LIPS :

  • L’Oreal Paris Infallible Lipstick Molten Caramel (Swatch HERE)

This is dark brown lipstick but is quite versatile and works for many skin tones depending on how sheer/intense you wear it. I’ve worn it lightly using a lip brush or the brown can look a little dark and muddy on my skin tone. Duskier beauties can apply the lipstick with less restraint as it will not look as stark against their complexion.

[note color=”#FFE4C4″] You will note that I have skipped kohl to keep the eyes looking fresh and light but if you’re someone used to wearing kohl, you can wear some brown kohl with this look. The beauty of the green is that it is very soft and muted which is why it can be worn at ease during the day time as well. Even though the green is subdued, go easy on the lips and cheeks so that face doesn’t look too made up.

Hope you like the look! Do drop your comments below! [/note]

    1. It might look a little more silvery on dusky skin which is why I have used the brown eye shadow at the lash line, to make it look wearable and natural.
