Today I’m reviewing the Bourjois Paris Flower Perfection Foundation which I’ve been using for the past month. Its my first one from Bourjois and reminds me a little bit of my favorite MAC Matchmaster foundation.

My take on the Product

Bourjois Flower Perfection foundation comes in a transparent pump dispenser bottle along with a round flat sponge applicator. The sponge applicator is of no use – it absorbs way too much product, its difficult to work with it in the area around the nose and eyes and it has a flat profile with no handle for better hold.

The foundation has a slightly thin consistency and one would need a very small quantity – barely half a pump to cover the entire face. I ended up wasting the product a few times when I pumped out 1 full pump. A smidgen of product spreads to a large area and its really surprizing how little product is needed. It has medium coverage and its best applied with a foundation brush. I’ve tried it with fingers, with the sponge it comes with and with Inglot 21T (Flat foundation brush) and I got the best coverage and finish with the foundation brush. The finish is nearly matte though not a dry matte and it gives a soft glow to the skin (but only when used with a brush) which reminds me a bit of my favorite MAC Matchmaster foundation. Once applied, it sort of ‘sets’ onto the skin after few minutes but does give enough time for blending.

It is also quite long wearing (provided you don’t sweat) and best suited for normal to oily skin. When set with a powder after application, the skin stays shine free for a good 4-5 hours which is more than I can say for most other foundations. You need smooth, moisturized skin for it apply well. With its light feel and medium coverage, I think it’ll make a good everyday foundation for oily skinned women.

Now the big drawback of this foundation is that it melts off a bit when you sweat unless you’ve got a good powder on. So it may not be the best foundation for humid summers especially Mumbai summers. However, if set with powder and provided you’re not outdoors in humid, hot weather, it will hold well for over 10 hours. It does not cover up the redness of my blemishes and the under eye darkness even at its best coverage (when applied with brush) so a concealer is required for the problem areas.

It has a soft floral scent which I find quite pleasant but everyone may not like it. It has SPF 15 which is always good in a foundation but that doesn’t mean you can skip your sunscreen because it does not have PA++ protection.

The shade 55 Dark Beige:

I am Matchmaster no. 3 in MAC and probably somewhere close to NC35 and shade no. 55 in Bourjois Flower Perfection is a close match. It matches my neutral skin quite well – neither too pink nor too yellow. As far as I know, the shade numbers of Bourjois Flower Perfection and the newly launched 123 Perfect Foundation correspond but they are not the same for Healthy Mix or Bio Detox. So I won’t be the same shade number in Healthy Mix – probably one higher or lower (don’t know which).

  6. Sheer to medium coverage (Depending on tool of application)
  7. Soft floral scent
  8. Feels light and natural on the skin

The NOT-SO-GOOD about Bourjois Paris Flower Perfection Foundation :

Overall Verdict

Bourjois Paris Flower Perfection Foundation is a medium coverage, matte finish, long wearing foundation that is best suited for normal to oily skin. With the exception of not holding up well in hot humid conditions, its a lovely foundation. Best used with a brush for maximum coverage, it gives a soft glow to the skin and a shine-free finish for a long time.

Best suited for : Normal to Oily skin

Best applied with : Foundation Brush

Rating : 4/5

  1. Bourjois foundations tend to be a too pink for my skin tone..even healthy mix has majority pink undertones 🙁 isnt this a bit too dark for your skin tone?

    1. Its very slightly darker but in person it doesn’t look weird. The best part is that the undertones match so it doesn’t look too ashy or orangey. Have you checked out the new 123 Perfect foundation?

      1. not yet Ankita but m planning to get the chambor matte finish which you reviewed sometime back..i tried it in the store n the yellow tones matched perfectly!

  2. just cnt get over the wonder called mac.. cnt get myself to try ne other brands coz i hvv pigmented skin. hv tried loreal true match n cover girl n revlon bt they all look funny on my face.

  3. hi , ankita i wanted to share my recent discovery with you , pls. try to review it if possible … i got himalaya’a CLARINA face mask for acne prone skin , its the best i ve come across so far.. its from the medicated himalaya range not the one advertised on TV , but nevertheless easily available in pharmacies easily.. it clears out oil and makes skin appear brighter and smoother , perfectly lives up to its claim of cleaning pores..

    luv.

  4. I’ve checked this one out but ended up picking up Healthy Mix because the undertone in this one is a bit pinker (at least for the shade I need). I think you’re right about this appealing to those with oily/combo skin!

    1. I’ve heard so much about Healthy Mix but I fell for this one as the SA recommended this for oilier skin types. But I will still try out HM for the winters when my skin needs a little more emollient foundation.

    1. Hey Sukanya, been traveling recently so skin routine is a bit messed up. While I away from Mumbai, my skin was much drier and I was using the Vichy Scrub and Nivea soft cream day and night, both have been mentioned in this post –
      http://hmangasite.info/2012/10/01/5-favorite-beauty-products-from-my-delhi-trip/

Was also using sunscreen (lotus herbals SPF 40 3-in-1 matte) in the day time. Nothing else apart from these 3 products.

Have just come back to Mumbai today so will be changing the routine now.

  5. i have dry skin, so i guess this will not suit me…. btw, u are one of the prettiest Indian bloggers whose blogs I read…. have hardly seen u looking anything but pretty…. 🙂
