What L’occitane says about the Facecolor Cream Duo :
A creamy blush presented with an enhancer that can adjust the blush intensity as wished or illuminate your face by touches.
My take on the product
L’occitane Facecolor cream duo comes in a stiff cardboard packaging with a floral pattern on the outer covering. This is the signature packaging of the Pivoine flora collection (the eye shadow duo reviewed HERE has the same packaging) and the compact contains a mirror inside. The compact has a magnetic clasp and the packaging is quite sturdy overall. The duo contain a deep rose blush and a peach illuminator – both are placed in semi-circular pans inside the compact. The products have a floral fragrance but its not too strong and fades off some time after application.
The Deep Rose pink blush :
I love the formula of this blush. Its creamy but not oily or greasy, it is well pigmented and I get adequate color on the cheeks with 2 dabs of the product and some blending with my finger. It blends very easily, has a semi-matte finish and gives a soft sheen to the cheeks. It doesn’t give that wet looking shiny finish that many cream blushes do. The slight dryness in texture works very well for my combination skin and the blush doesn’t slide off or transfer from the skin. I get an excellent wear time of nearly 8 hours with this blush. The shade is a lovely deep rose pink that would look pretty on all skin tones. It didn’t photograph as well (looks too light in pictures) but its actually nicely pigmented and shows up very well on the skin. It is definitely the best cream blush formula (for normal to oily skin) I’ve tried.
Rating : 5/5
The Peach highlighter :
As much as I loved the pink blush, I couldn’t bring myself to work the peach part of the duo. The texture is similar, creamy but dry-ish but the color doesn’t flatter my coloring and the shimmer is too large and gritty. The color looked ashy on my skin and I couldn’t get it to show up in pictures at all. Had the shimmer been finer and more nicely integrated with the formula, I might have been able to work the formula somehow. I think the color may look better on paler complexions. This part of the duo was a complete dud.
Rating : 2/5
Wearing only the pink blush on my cheeks (the color is much deeper in person) –
L’occitane Pivoine Flora Facecolor Cream Duo Rose Reverence combines a pretty rose pink blush and a peach highlighter in a convenient compact packaging. The cream blushes have a unique dry-cream texture, good pigmentation and excellent staying power. The semi-matte finish and lack of greasy sheen makes it wearable on oily skin as well. While I love the concept of a blush-highlighter duo, the peach highlighter just doesn’t work for me – the color is too ashy on my skin and the shimmer too gritty and large.
Overall Rating : 3.5/5 (-1.5 entirely for the highlighter)
