When it comes to blushes on a budget, no one does them better than NYX! Today I’m reviewing a lovely dusty pink shade ‘Spice‘ from the brand which has become a staple in my makeup bag.

My take on the Product

The Blush comes in a pretty simple packaging – square plastic pan with a transparent cover. The blush surface has a quilted pattern on it. These are not super sturdy (as is the case with most NYX products) so one needs to be a tad careful with these. The transparent cover allows one to locate shades easily if you own more than one.

The formula is amazing for its price – super soft, silky texture with amazing pigmentation. One needs just a touch of blush to get the required amount of color on the cheeks. The powder is very blendable and is workable with the worst of brushes. The color doesn’t get patchy or uneven as it wears. I get about 4-5 hours of wear time with NYX blushes – not super awesome but not bad either. My only issue with these blushes is that they are too soft and tend to kick up excess powder in the pan if you use a scratchy brush.

Spice is a dusty rose pink shade that looks very natural on medium to dusky skin. Its my go-to blush shade when I’m not sure what to wear and it pairs wonderfully with everyday natural pink lipsticks. On low maintenance days when I’m not bothered with full makeup, I just wear a plum or berry gloss like Maybelline Plumtastic or Maxfactor Spicy Plum and this blush just adds a nice touch of warm natural pink color to my cheeks. I think its a fantastic shade for all skin tones and complexions. If you’re a blush beginner, this is a great shade to try!

I don’t think this is an exact dupe of MAC Mocha but it is similar and looks very soft and natural on the cheeks. If you want something in the same color family as MAC Mocha but don’t want to spend on MAC, NYX Spice is a great option!

The GOOD about NYX Powder Blush Spice ~

  1. Silky, soft texture
  2. Great pigmentation
  3. Blends easily
  4. Transparent cover – allows for easy identification of shades
  5. Decent wear time
  6. Does not get patchy on the skin
  7. Very affordable!

The NOT-SO-GOOD about NYX Powder Blush Spice ~

  1. Powder is very soft
  2. Packaging is not very sturdy
  3. Staying power could be better

Overall Verdict

NYX Powder blush Spice is a lovely dusty pink that makes a very flattering natural blush shade for medium to dusky complexions. The powder is silky soft in texture and has excellent pigmentation. It blends well and wears for a decent amount of time. The only downside is that the packaging isn’t very sturdy and the pan tends to get messy with kick off. But for its super affordable price, I’m happy to overlook these issues.

Depending on where you buy it from, it can cost you anywhere between Rs 300-600. It is similar to MAC Mocha blush.

Rating : 4.25/5

    1. Hi Varuna! I’m wearing the pink shade from Lakme Absolute duo Night Flash and the dark copper shade from Lakme Absolute duo in Day Shimmer 🙂

  5. lovely shade ankita..you always tempt me to buy one more cosmetic products especially lipsticks…can you please let me know if there is any name written on the gloss as well cause on med I can only see names and not numbers..

    1. Try shades like Copper, Terracotta if you want something warm. If you want something to go with pink lipsticks, Spice is nice. Or Mocha. A natural look can be achieved not just by picking the right shade but in the way you apply it as well. So a light dusting of a warm pink will give a very natural, healthy color to the cheeks.
