Budget Beauty Find : Canmake Cream Blush!

One of my best beauty finds at the Japanese drugstore have been the Canmake Cream Cheek blushers. Canmake is a local brand that offers really good quality products at a very affordable price.

Price : JPY 580 (Rs 350)

The blushes come in a very sleek and compact transparent packaging that makes it excellent for carrying in one’s hand bag. As with all things Japanese, it has a few kawaii touches here and there (stars, bow etc) though I find the packaging slightly cheap looking. But since the formula is top notch, I won’t hold that against it! The texture of the blush is more like a gel cream than a traditional cream. Its nicely pigmented so a little goes a long way. Its easy to blend and you can wear it as sheer or intense as you wish. I wasn’t expecting very good wear time considering the price but it wears really well! On bare skin, I get about 6 hours and with a base underneath (BB cream or foundation), I get a solid 8 hours after which it begins to fade. I like that it has a slight stiffness in texture and isn’t too creamy. It doesn’t feel heavy or greasy on my combination skin.

I saw these in 6-7 shades ranging from baby pinks and peaches (the most popular shades here in Japan) to a full bodied red. What I thought would be most flattering for my skin was CL04 (pictured here) – a vibrant rich pink that adds a beautiful rosy flush to the cheeks. It instantly brightens up and adds life to my face. I wasn’t an everyday blush wearer until I bought this!

Canmake Cream Cheeks are a MUST-HAVE if you have access to this brand. Highly recommended!

  1. It looks soooo natural on u. Love the packaging <3
My favorite drugstore cream blush is the NYX Cream Blush in Glow. Its one of the prettiest blushes I've ever used!

  2. quite a pretty shade Ankita… I also wear blush almost daily, and these days I don’t step out without one πŸ™‚ current favorite is from a thai brand called Gino McRay πŸ˜‰

    1. Gino McRay? Never heard of this brand. But if this is your favorite, I will have to do some research! I only have Skinfood and Missha cream blushes, they are not the best in my opinion so I am always hunting for something new and better!

  3. I took your recommendation seriously (Instagram post I guess) and bought this shade. It’s funny that this costs 18000 KRW (~17$) in Korea, not so budget-friendly here. But I was in search of a good cream blush so I got it in SALE on Friday for 12800 (~11$)!
I agree that despite the stickers and white lace prints, the packaging has nothing special to offer.
Good to read the review, let’s see how this works out for me!

  4. Affordable there but unfortunately it’s not here, it looks quite good, my favorite would be Maybelline cheeky glow blush, super affordable and then NYX stick blush.

  5. the packaging looks super kawaii and yeah, the japs love their baby pinks a lot. This color looks great on you! :D. I will keep a look out for this brand of make up :).

  6. Great review Ankita! Canmake is my fav too among the Japanese drugstore brands, haven’t tried their cream blush yet but the nails, glitter, and all the things that I have tried are too good. I agree with you that it looks cheap :p To be very honest, when I first saw this brand I didn’t pay any heed to what the heck was that…hehe! You should also try Lavshuca sometime if you can, that is also a great drugstore brand, a bit pricey than CANMAKE but definitely not cheap-looking and fun to have…
