Deborah Milano Extra Pearly Stick Eye shadow (05) Charming Violet : Review, Swatch, EOTD

Hey everyone!

One of Deborah Milano’s new launches is the Extra Pearly Stick Eye shadow. I’ve always had a soft spot for stick/crayon shadows and I was really excited to try this out! Today I have the shade 05 Charming Violet under review.

Price : Rs 590 | Available in  on Deborah Milano counters.

My take on the Product

The shadow comes in a twist up pen packaging that looks a lot like the Bobbi Brown Long wear cream eye shadow! I am so glad  these don’t need to be sharpened – with a creamy pencil like this, sharpening leads to a lot of product wastage. The texture is silky smooth and it glides easily on the eyes without any tugging. The color pay off is amazing – it gives rich color in a single swipe without requiring layering. The shadow can be smudged/sheered out immediately after application before it sets. Once set, it doesn’t smudge or blend further. Like the name suggests, it has very high shine pearl finish – the color contains multicolored non-gritty pearl particles that give a gorgeous sparkly finish to the eyes. It is definitely a evening product, unless you really sheer it out, it could look really heavy for the day time.

There is one huge downside to this product though – it tends to crease a little immediately after application and then sets that way. It doesn’t look very obvious in person but quite obvious when I photographed the eyes. I would still wear this alone because it looks quite nice in person though the heavy sparkle may not be to everyone’s liking. After the initial creasing, it doesn’t budge for many hours and stays put. When I wore it sheered down, I didn’t face the creasing issue. Another way to avoid the creasing is to not wear it all the way up to the crease, keep the color concentrated on the lid. Very pearly/sparkly eye shadows aren’t meant to be worn in the crease as they tend to go patchy.

Overall, I love the texture – its more buttery and smoother than any eye shadow crayon I’ve tried and the color is gorgeous! But the initial creasing can be a bit of an issue though with all the intense sparkle there, it is not obvious. Charming Violet is a metallic grey-violet containing purple and gunmetal pearl with nuances of green! I love the complexity of the color and I don’t have anything as beautifully sparkly and complex in my collection!

On my eyes –

(It looks worse in photographs! It doesn’t look this patchy in person)

    1. hey Nia, I think the issue with this is not oily lids. If that would have been the case, it would have creased a while after application once the lids got oily. But this creases very quickly – I guess there is just too shimmer in the formula which moves around as you blink your eyes.

  1. Hi ankita…I have bough Deborah's 2 in 1 long lasting eyeshadow , 10 ombretto crema. I find it very difficult to pick the product n apply ( dry n wet brush both). On wet brush it just sticks n set on it…..any tips plzzzz..:(

    1. Hey Divi, are there any guidelines on how to use in on the packaging or the website? Try using your fingers, it might help in picking up the product better.

  2. The shade is gorgeous. But ya it does look patchy. Sad that it creases. I have super oily lids. might not work.
But I guess it would look great used as a liner too.

  3. The shade is so beautiful but “skippable” quality. I was thinking that it will make a good base for eyeshadow but this one itself creases so badly 🙁
