Today I’m reviewing the Shiseido Lacquer Gloss which is a recent launch by Shiseido. I really like Shiseido lip products so I was quite excited to try this out!
Price : $25 at (Price in INR to be updated)
What Shiseido says about the product :
A clear lip lacquer with a deep sheen that lasts all day long. Inspired by traditional Japanese transparent lacquer, this unique formula has a three-layer structure that refines lip texture, adheres to the lips with vivid color, and coats the lips with all-day moisture. This gloss also features an applicator that fits lips perfectly, allowing you to draw an even lip line with no streaks.
My take on the Product
The lip gloss comes in a short tube packaging with a flat, pointed applicator. The lower half of the tube is transparent so one can locate and identify shades easily. The consistency of this lip gloss is like a rich creamy gel. The gloss is non-sticky and seems to have no scent. Its feels very emollient, comfortable and super hydrating on the lips. The pigmentation varies across the shades ranging from sheer to medium opaque. Shade RS306 which Shiseido describes as a Rosy Violet has medium pigmentation which is enough to add a fair amount of semi-opaque color to my slightly pigmented lips.
I find this more hydrating and comfortable than most other lip glosses I’ve tried including other high end ones like the Guerlain Maxi Shine glosses. It also seems to wear a little longer too (about 3.5-4 hours) with light snacking in between. My lips feel soft, supple and smooth after wearing this gloss so if you have really dry lips, you’d love this formula! I personally love wearing glosses as they give a healthier, fuller and more hydrated look to the lips and this one delivers exceptionally well on all those aspects and wears for a decently long time for a gloss!
Shade RS306 (described as a Rosy Violet) is a pretty mauve shade which is quite understated and different from the kind of shades I usually go for. To bring out the pink tones, I like to wear this over a nude pink lipstick or lip liner. Worn alone, it can slightly wash me out as violets and mauves are not really very flattering on me. But if you like natural earthy mauve shades, do check this out. The shade has some very fine and understated pearl that adds to the shine. The range has 8 shades covering a fair range of colors, check out the shades on Sephora’s website . I LOVE the formula but I wish they had a wider shade range!
