My take on the Product
The NARS Narsissist eye shadow palette comes in the signature rubberized finish packaging of NARS. It contains 15 neutral shades – a mix of both warm and cool colors housed in small rectangular pans and the underside of the lid contains a big mirror. The palette comes without an applicator (which would go unused anyway!). The overall quality of the palette is quite good but could be a tad better in terms of texture and pigmentation. Neither of the shades is outright dry or chalky but some of the shades like Fez, Nepal, Lhasa, Bad Behavior, Dogon II are more buttery in texture and have much better pay off than the others. Most of the shades blend very easily with a few exceptions like the darker mattes which need a little more effort to blend. There is barely any fall out from the shadows during application and blending except for a tiny bit from the shade Belissima 1 which contains some subtle shimmer. I love the wear time of these eye shadows – they are really long wearing on my oily lids (tested without primer). The longest I’ve worn these in about 9 hours and there was barely any creasing or fading even after 9 hours of wear!
I have to admit that I contemplated a lot before buying this palette because it was not exactly cheap. In the end after reading plenty of rave reviews, I gave in and bought it. After buying it and using it for some time, I realized that I was using mostly the warm colors from the palette (especially Fez which has become an all time favorite now!). I don’t wear a lot of cool toned eye shadows and the cooler shades from the bottom rows went untouched for a while. I now make more effort to explore this palette a little more. I do like the palette a lot and it does offer options for a huge variety of looks! I really wanted to add some NARS eye shadows to my collection and I don’t regret buying it. So if you’ve been thinking of picking this up, do see the swatches and decide whether overall the palette makes sense for you or not. Going just by the value point of view, its a great deal because you get 15 shades for under $80 (estimated value of the palette is $163).
