My take on the Product
Previously I have reviewed the shade Red Delight from this range, do check out that review for a full detailed analysis of the formula. The shade Desert Rose has the same melty, soft creamy texture, glossy wet shine, medium pigmentation and hydrating formula. The only difference is that being a lighter shade, Desert Rose has a tendency to get a little patchy on the lips when you layer the color. I’d recommend just patting the lips with your finger tip to even out any unevenness. To get a near opaque color coverage, you’d need at least 2 swipes as a single swipe gives medium coverage. I do like this formula a lot because it feels very smooth and comforting on the lips and I really like sheer, lightweight, glossy lipsticks in general.
A major downside of these lipsticks is the low staying power. Since the lipstick is sheer and glossy, there is a tendency to transfer and fade off quickly. Desert Rose barely stains the lips, I get about 3-3.5 hours of wear out of this lipstick. But since the texture is so beautiful, I don’t mind reapplying! Overall, I really like the lipstick – the formula feels wonderful on the lips. I’m a big fan of lighter, glossy, hydrating lipsticks and this one hits all the right spots for me. Compared to the L’Oreal Rouge Caresse, the Lakme one feels a lot smoother and definitely more luxurious in texture. If you have dry lips or share my love of light weight, glossy lipsticks – do check these out!
Desert Rose is a peachy pink shade that I would recommend for lighter complexions. It feels a bit light on my medium complexion and I don’t think this is the most flattering shade for deeper complexions. The range contains 15 shades so there are loads of options to choose from if this one is not for you.
