Best of 2014 : Base Makeup

Hello ladies!

Continuing with the Best of 2014 series, I have my favorite Base Makeup products next! Leaving the Lips & Nails for the end because that is going to be one long list! I was pretty loyal to a couple of products in 2014 and if you are a regular reader of Corallista, you might already be familiar with some of them. Lets have a look –

1. Shiseido Sheer and Perfect Foundation

I actually finished up this foundation and that is really something because I tend to switch between foundations. I loved the sheer, watery light weight formula which actually evened out my skin exceptionally well (considering how thin it feels). The overall effect is clean and fresh looking skin which I love. Works great for all skin types, round the year!

2. Clinique SuperPrimer Universal

I’ve been serious about primers in 2014 and the second half of the year, I stuck to the Clinique Super Primer which is a do-it-all primer – it smoothens the skin, feels lightly moisturizing but gives a satiny finish and extends the wear of my foundation. I don’t think I have much left in the tube, I have used this quite religiously in the past few months!

3. Revlon Photoready Primer (Color Correction)

While the Clinique primer was my go-to pick for the colder months, the Revlon Photoready was my staple in the warmer months. The primer doesn’t offer much color correction but its great for oilier gals like me. It mattifies the skin and controls oil quite well while giving a smoother look to the skin. If oiliness and foundation breakdown troubles you, go for this one!

4. Kate BB Gel Cream

This was one of my best drugstore discoveries in 2014 and you might recall seeing this numerous times in monthy favorites and such. The gel formula feels quite easy to blend, it gives about medium coverage and a very natural looking finish. It stays quite well on my combination/oily skin as well. I haven’t used this much in recent months but I loved this during the spring/summer months!

5. Kate PowderLess Foundation

Another great base product from KATE! This is a matte, long wearing foundation that gives good coverage and stays very well without getting cakey or dry by the end of the day. I see myself going back to this in the summer.

6. MAC Select Sheer Pressed Powder

The Select Sheer Pressed powder is an excellent setting/touch up powder that takes away shine without adding cakiness. Its silky and light weight and is excellent for setting liquid foundation or concealer. I also carry this in my handbag most times for touch ups if I’m out. I’ve hit pan on it – enough said!

7. Chambor Light and Sheer Highlighter

My favorite liquid highlighter from 2014 – ideally should have gone in cheek products but I loved using this mixed with foundation hence I’ve added this in the Base products list. Love the blendable fluid texture and the gorgeous glow it gives. Its noticeable but not too heavy duty so you can easily use this in daily wear too for a touch of glow on the cheeks.

8. Lakme Absolute Face Stylist Concealer (Honey)

I love LOVE this concealer and it works great paired with the Shiseido foundation (or alone). Its got a very blendable liquid consistency which gives medium coverage and does a great job of concealing under eyes with a natural satin finish. It doesn’t cake up (a common problem with concealers), doesn’t get into lines and the staying power is excellent. I have run out unfortunately and I wanted to repurchase (very rare for me!) but the shade Honey was sold out when I wanted to buy it during my India trip πŸ™

9. Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer

Another concealer that I loved using was the highlighting one by Maybelline. I like the concept of highlighting concealers and this one actually gives decent coverage to mask under eye pigmentation. This works great for pictures for me personally because it adds a soft highlighted effect to the eye area which always photographs well. The only downside – doesn’t work for other parts of the face for me (like sides of the nose etc.) because the formula is a bit rich for my skin. Great for the under eyes though!

  9. My fav foundations are always compact powder foundation!
I love the Too faced amazing face powder compact ( I use honey beige) i am on my second one, it gives v natural finish and I bought MUFE profinish wet and dry foundation compact ( shade 125 pink beige) last dec and I love the way it goes on my face! I apply it with a wet sponge! It stays pretty good even without a primer for 5-6 hrs without making me oily! These two are my day to day foundations!

Primer is bare minerals original formula. I have it for a year now and it's good but I don't wear a primer everyday!
