Its finally warmed up in Japan and the jackets and coats have gone back in! I am loving the sunshine, the flowers and the greenery everywhere. Japan is beautiful in spring! The April edition of GlossyBox Japan seems spring inspired and this is my favorite box so far – maybe because of that mini Givenchy lipstick! Here’s a look at what I received in this month’s box –
La Roche Posay Sunblock samples : UVIDEA XL Aqua Gel (3 ml), ANTHELIOS XL Fluid (3 ml)
The Japanese are serious about sun protection and the drugstores are flooded with sunscreens as soon as the weather starts warming up. French Pharmacy brands seem quite popular here and the LRP Japan website seems to have an endless number of products in the sun protection category. I’ve been meaning to try some new sunscreens but I have so many from last summer to finish. Nevertheless I’m quite excited to try out these SPF50 high protection sunblocks from La Roche Posay. The fresh gel in particular sounds great for the hot humid summer. I wish the samples were a bigger though – 3 ml is hardly 3 uses isn’t it?
Alteya Organics Bulgarian Rose Cleanser and Wash
Its no secret that I love rose scented products and I was quite pleased to see this in the box. It has a very gentle rose scent which feels quite fresh and not overwhelmingly floral. The sample looks quite small but 15 ml seems enough to test out a face wash. I tried out a small bit on my hand and its a gel cleanser that seems to foam quite a bit. I checked the ingredients and Potassium Hydroxide is quite high on the list. I tend to avoid face washes with detergents as they feel drying on my skin so I’m not sure it this is something I would like to use more of.
Tocca Eau de Parfum : Cleopatra
I love perfume samples and I was quite thrilled to see Tocca in the box! Its a luxury brand and frankly, quite expensive but it smells lovely and lasts very long! I just dabbed a tiny bit on my wrists yesterday and I could smell it for hours. Its a fresh floral with a warm musky base – I really like it but I like something fresher for the summer so this is something I’d prefer in the autumn once the weather starts cooling off a little.
Chocola BB Hyper Drink
These supplements and beauty drinks seem to be an integral part of GlossyBox Japan! This particular one contains 13 active ingredients including B-complex vitamins, amino acids and taurine, all of which help fatigued bodies produce necessary energy, royal jelly, which alone contains a well-balanced blend of more than 40 different nutrients, and ginseng, ligustrum lucidum (a traditional Chinese medicinal herb) and guarana for physical revitalization.
It tastes fruity though a tiny bit medicinal but I don’t mind it. I’m not sure if it does anything though because I drank it a while back and don’t feel particularly energized 😐 I had little sleep last night and I feel quite tired today so I was hoping this would revitalize me as it claims!
Givenchy Le Rouge-a-Porter Lipstick 104 Beige Floral
I love getting makeup minis and I was so happy to see this pretty box from Givenchy in the box. It contains a mini tube of the Le Rouge-a-Porter lipstick which is a sheer, balmy lipstick in a soft peachy pink shade – 104 Beige Floral. The formula is really nice and comfortable and the shade is lovely for everyday wear. I really like the neutral shades from Givenchy. 105 Brun Vintage from the classic Le Rouge lipstick range is one of my favorite pinks (worn here).
Compared to previous 2 months’ boxes, the sample sizes are much smaller but in terms of the products and brands – this box was more to my preference and liking. I do wish the sample sizes were bigger though because these quantities for 1620 JPY ($13.59, INR 862) seems a bit less.
But overall, I’m still quite pleased with this month’s box! Rating : 4/5
Talking of Beauty box/bags, I recently read Ipsy is coming to Japan soon. I’ve heard good things about it so excited to try it out whenever it launches! Do you like beauty boxes? What is your favorite beauty box subscription? Share your comments below!
