Maybelline Colossal Kohl Crushed Emerald, Jewelled Jade – Review
The kohls come in the yellow twist up liner packaging – same as the regular black Colossal kajal but with colored bands indicating the shade on the lower half of the tube. The texture of these kohls is reasonably smooth though I wouldn’t say these are super creamy. Between these 2 shades – Jewelled Jade was a tiny bit creamier than Crushed Emerald. Both are well pigmented and 2 passes of the kohl gives true color on the eyes. I’ve tested these out along the waterlines as well as the upper lash line and they both wear really well! Along the waterlines, I get 7-8 hours of solid wear after which there is a little bit of fading at the outer corners. The kajal still lingers on for 2-3 more but fades steadily. It hardly smudged on my slightly watery eyes throughout the course of the day. Along the upper lash lines, I’d recommend powdering your lids well (if you have oily lids or live in a humid place) to avoid liner transfer to the socket line. When I didn’t powder my lids, the color did transfer a bit but with some eye shadow or simple pressed powder, that issue was resolved.
Crushed Emerald is a rich emerald green with a slight sheen to it while Jewelled Jade is a deep teal blue with matte finish. Both colors are very refreshing in the summer and a nice alternative to regular black kajal!
Overall, these are pretty good in terms of formula and affordably priced as well. They aren’t as smooth as some gel liner pencils but are waterline safe, have a reasonably smooth texture and good color pay off, and wear well throughout the day without smudging!
