NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer Review
The tinted moisturizer has a light creamy consistency and it spreads really easily on the skin. Its easy to blend with fingers and doesn’t need any extra effort or tools to blend flawlessly. It gives light coverage that is just enough to even out my skin a little bit but it doesn’t cover pigmentation, spots etc. like a foundation would. The idea behind using a tinted moisturizer is to get some light coverage while retaining a natural, skin-like look. I think it works great in that regard! It has a dewy, glowy finish which ladies with dry/mature skin might like more but on my oily skin, it leads to shine on the T-zone and inner cheeks in a few hours. So I’ve been using this with the Revlon Photoready primer underneath and a powder on top and that seems to sort out the oiliness issue.
It stays on my skin for a good 7-8 hours which is fairly good in the summers. It doesn’t vanish by the end of the day but does seem a bit faded. I love the mild pleasant scent of the product, it feels refreshing. It feels quite hydrating and contains botanical ingredients, Kopara and mineral rich sea water that help hydrate, soften and brighten the skin. I haven’t used it for long enough to see any skincare benefits though. But my skin does feel really soft when I’ve worn this all day.
The SPF 30 and PA+++ is great for everyday wear but if I’m headed out for longer periods of time, I make sure to use a higher SPF sunscreen underneath. This is available in 11 shades from pale to very deep. I picked the shade St.Moritz which is labeled Medium 1 and is a lovely warm/golden toned shade for medium complexions. Its a tiny bit dark for me but since its not very high coverage, it just adds a nice warm glow to the skin. I think ladies around NC40-42 complexion would find this shade a good match.
Downsides? Not the best pick for very oily skin. I also wish NARS did something about the packaging. It looks great when its new but tends to get dirty very quickly!
Overall, even though this isn’t the most mattifying base for my oily summer skin, the super blendable consistency, light natural coverage, broad spectrum sun protection and good staying power makes it really great for quick everyday makeup. Its also oil free and doesn’t irritate my acne prone skin in any way. Even though its expensive, you need barely a pea sized amount for your entire face and the 50 ml tube is going to last a long time!
