L’Oreal Paris Mat Magique Compact Powder Review

The compact comes in an attractive white and fuchsia packaging which looks quite stylish! The casing has a separate compartment below the powder for the mirror and sponge. The powder texture is soft, silky, almost creamy feeling and it works great as a setting powder for liquid foundation and concealer. It also gives light coverage so you can use it by itself just to even out and mattify the skin. Its not a very drying powder and gives a soft matte finish to the skin. The oil control though, is average and my very oily skin begins to get a little shiny after 2-2.5 hours so a touch up is needed. Like any good powder should, it softens the look of pores and gives a smoother look to the skin. It doesn’t settle into lines and uneven areas. Overall, I quite like this powder and love the price point even more! I hate dry, chalky powders and the more affordable price range is India is full of those. This one has a lovely, fine texture and it gives a bit of light coverage too which could be great for those who don’t wear foundation on a daily basis. The powder also has SPF 34 and PA+++ making it ideal for day time wear!

The shade range is decent enough if you consider the poor shade selection most departmental store brands seem to have in India. The shades have enough warm undertones so they don’t look ashy or grey on Indian complexions. The perfect shade for me is N6 Nude Honey while I like to use one of the lighter ones just in the under eye area if I want to brighten that region. Shade G7 Golden Amber is the darkest color which I think should work for deeper skin tones though not for very deep complexions. I like to use that shade for subtle bronzing and contouring sometimes. I’ve swatched all 5 shades below so you can have a look!

Overall, I think this is an excellent budget powder and I would recommend you check this out next time you’re in need of a compact! It won’t win any awards in the oil control department but the texture is soft and fine and I see it working for all skin types!
