Recipes to Complement Your Fitness Resolutions For The New Year

After the culinary decadence of the festive season and momentarily abandoned fitness regimes, the month of January brings a new dawn of New Year Resolutions. So, it is not surprise that the most common of those is to get fit. A great way to ensure you cut down calories is by simply switching from a sugar sweetened beverage to zero calorie Green Tea. Do note that, simply drinking it is not enough to remain healthy and fit.

Here are some fun recipes that can complement your green tea diet to help achieve your fitness goal :

 

Garden Tea Soup

Ingredients :

2 cups boiling water

2 bags Lipton Green Tea Bags

1 Tbsp. olive oil

4 cloves garlic

1 Tbsp. dried thyme leaves

1 bay leaf

1000ml vegetable broth

200gm mixed vegetables

1/2 cup rice

Salt to taste

1 Tbsp. lemon juice

 

Procedure :

– Pour boiling water over Lipton Green Tea Bags and brew 2 minutes. Remove Tea Bags; set aside

– Heat olive oil in 4-quart saucepot over medium heat and cook garlic, stirring frequently, until golden. Add thyme and bay leaf; cook 30 seconds. Add broth, brewed tea and mixed vegetables. Bring to a boil over high heat. Stir in rice and salt. Simmer covered 20 minutes or until rice is tender

– Remove bay leaf and garlic; stir in lemon juice. Season to taste with salt and pepper

 

Green Tea Asian Stir-Fry

 

Green Tea Asian Stir-Fry

 

Ingredients :

1/2 cup water

2 Lipton Green Tea Bags, any variety

2 Tbsp. reduced sodium soy sauce

1 Tbsp. honey

2 Tbsp. olive oil

500g boneless, skinless chicken breasts or 500gm Cottage Cheese (Paneer) cubes

500g Stir-fry vegetables

 

Procedure :

– Pour boiling water over Lipton Green Tea Bags and brew 1-1/2 minutes. Remove Tea Bags and squeeze

– Combine tea, soy sauce and honey in small bowl; set aside

– Heat olive oil in 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat and cook chicken / paneer, stirring frequently, until thoroughly cooked. Remove chicken / Paneer and set aside

– Add vegetables and tea mixture to same skillet. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat and simmer 3 minutes or until vegetables are almost tender. Return chicken / Paneer to skillet; cook 1 minute or until heated through. Serve, if desired, over hot cooked rice

 

 

Green Tea and Blue Berry Smoothie

Ingredients : 

2 Lipton Green Tea Bags

Fresh blueberries – 2 cups

Fat Free Vanilla Yogurt- 340mg or 1 ¾ Cup

Almonds (dry, roasted, unsalted) – 2 tbsp

Flax seeds- 2 tbsp

Water- ¾ cups

Ice Cubes- 3

 

Procedure :

– Boil water, pour over the Lipton green tea bags for about 4 minutes, squeeze and remove the tea bags, chill the tea overnight.

– If using fresh blueberries you need to place it in freezer overnight.

– Place all the ingredients in blender, process until smooth and divide the smoothie in ice filled glasses
