NEW! Maybelline BB Cushion Foundation

Hi everyone! Maybelline India has been introducing lots of new products in the past couple of months and their latest new launch is the BB Cushion Foundation. I just received a sample of this so I thought I’d do a quick first impressions post.

The Cushion Foundation trend started in South Korea and while cushion makeup is catching up quickly in the west, there aren’t many options in the Indian market yet. The only ones I know of are by Lancome and Innisfree. I do have the Lancome one, in case any of you would like a review. I also have the one by The Body Shop which I got from my UK Trip back in June but it hasn’t launch in India yet. It is very good though and I’ve used it quite a bit.

The idea behind a cushion foundation is ease of application. A foundation soaked sponge or ‘cushion’ replaces the traditional botle and a soft padded applicator is used to directly tap the foundation onto the skin after pressing it on the cushion. The cushion releases foundation on the applicator as you apply pressure and its easy to apply and blend on the skin with a few taps.

The Maybelline BB Cushion comes in 2 shades – Fair and Natural. I opted for the shade Natural which is a close match for my medium complexion. The lack of shades for deeper skin tones is obvious and disappointing. The price of the BB Cushion is Rs 1200 and its already available on counters and online in several places.

In terms of formula, it has a thin, very liquid-y feel and feels moisturizing. The coverage is light-medium, not too sheer but enough to even out the skin fairly well. It doesn’t build up too well so for the under eyes/spots/blemishes etc., a concealer would be needed. It does have a soft radiant looking finish and makes the skin look healthy and fresh. The only drawback for me so far – it made my inner cheeks and T-zone really oily and I had to constantly dab and mattify every few hours. I think it would fare much better on people with dry skin. I’ve not had a chance to try it with a primer and with a different setting powder yet. I will give it a go and do a full review and demo video once in a few days.

What are your thoughts on the new Maybelline BB Cushion Foundation?

Have you tried any cushion makeup so far? Share your comments below!

  1. The cushion foundation trend is something which I really like. But this one from Maybelline doesn’t sound that good. I would love to try the one from TBS.

  2. Am looking for a foundation that would stay put on my oily skin, want to move on from Revlon Colorstay and try something a little more serious but want it to feel like second skin. Any recommendations, Ankita? This foundation sure looks amazing on you, though.

  3. Hello Ankita! Can you please review the Lancome foundation as well? Also, if you use Colourpop matte liquid lipsticks can you please do the swatches? I ordered some of their shades online and honestly the formula is excellent but the colours don’t look the same on my lips. If you have a few shades then please please do a swatches video. 🙂
