Estée Lauder Double Wear Nude Cushion Stick Radiant Makeup | Review

Hi everyone! Recently someone asked me on YouTube about the kind of base I wear for regular outings, meetings etc. and today I’m answering just that question in this post. The Mumbai weather is really not kind to makeup wearers, especially those with oilier skin types and I’ve always struggled with finding the perfect product that would give me light to medium coverage with a long-stay, non-oxidising finish. I am a little partial to high end products when it comes to base makeup, simply because I get better shade options in higher end brands and in most cases, the formula is a little superior as well.

In the past, I’ve loved using the following bases for regular wear – NARS Radiant Tinted Moisturizer, Clinique Age Defence BB Cream, The Body Shop Cushion Foundation (yet to launch in India) and the LA Girl Pro BB Cream. My latest love though is the Estée Lauder Double Wear Nude Cushion Stick Radiant Makeup. The name is a mouthful but to put it simply, its a light-medium coverage, hydrating, long lasting foundation. And it comes in a unique twist-up packaging with a sponge at the tip for buffing and blending the foundation. The sponge tip has a tiny well in the centre so when you twist the base, a bit of liquid foundation appears through the well. You can then dab it directly on the skin and use circular buffing motions or light swiping motions to blend it into the skin. The cushion (sponge tip) has a slight stiffness to it and its not super absorbent so it doesn’t drink up your foundation. It does a really good job of blending so you don’t need to go back in with your fingers or another tool to get a seamless finish. In terms of packaging, this is very unique and truly easy-to-use.

Winter Skin Care Routine Tips

A change in the season not only warrants a change in the wardrobe, but in the skin care routine as well. As soon as winter sets in, the skin starts feeling a little dry and when not attended to, becomes scaly and flaky. Indoor heating, low temperatures, and dry air affects the skin and makes it vulnerable to dehydration and peeling. This is why it is important to switch to a dedicated winter skin care routine. Here are some winter skin care tips to survive the cold winter months and maintain healthy, happy skin –

Change the cleanser – In summer, foaming cleansers are great, but in winters when the skin is dry switch to a creamy cleanser. In case, your skin is on the dry side, opt for creams with fatty acids and barrier-repairing ceramides that are good at preventing water loss. Remember, to preserve and maintain a youthful glow and soft skin, hydration is the key.

Try a facial oil – One of the essential parts of winter skin care routine is to invest in good quality facial oil. During the winters, mix a couple of drops of facial oil in your day cream to lock the moisture in the skin.

Exfoliate – To fight dullness and uneven pigmentation, it is very important to invest in a good exfoliator. Exfoliating helps shed dead cells and boosts the natural repair process, promoting the production of collagen. Remember to exfoliate gently, using natural and gentle exfoliators to avoid excessive dryness.

Moisturize – Moisturizing is an important part of any winter skin care routine. After your bath, pat the skin dry and apply a body lotion to protect the skin from moisture loss. Moisturizer help the skin retain moisture throughout the day. Use a lip balm to prevent drying and cracking of the lips.

2 Easy Hairstyles for Medium-length Hair

Hi everyone! Today I’ll be sharing 2 super easy hairstyles for medium-length hair. These are quick to create but still look like you’ve put some effort in! I’ve used products which make styling your hair at home super easy, as they are designed especially for Indian hair and weather.

Look 1

The first look is Braided style for beginners which looks really pretty with open hair as well as ponytails.

  • I shampooed my hair using the BBLUNT Perfect Balance Shampoo and followed it up with the BBLUNT Perfect Balance Conditioner. This restores the moisture balance and re-energises dull hair.
  • I then used the BBLUNT Blown Away Volumizing Leave-in Spray on my damp hair. This is meant to be used on the roots and it helps in adding volume and bounce to the hair.
  • I then quickly dried my hair using a blow-dryer. You can do a salon style blow-dry, section by section, to get amazing volume and smooth hair. Or do a quick dry like I did to retain some natural wave and bounce in your hair, but with added volume due to the spray used in the previous step.
  • Next, I did my usual left side-parting and picked up a section of hair as shown. I split these 3 sections and proceeded to create a braid. Every time I crossed the front section under the middle section, I added a few new strands to the front section. This will create a slightly different look as compared to a plain braid.
